We are supporting Safer Highways – Stamp It Out, a national campaign to highlight and tackle increasing levels of abuse aimed at highways and frontline workers in the construction industry.
Managing Director of Transport, Vip Gandhi, led the Stamp it Out Ministerial Briefing at the Science Gallery in London on Tuesday 11th March.
Vip is also Chair of Stamp it Out, a campaign formed in 2019 aiming to eradicate road worker abuse.
The event was attended by Lilian Greenwood MP, Minister for the Future of Roads, who delivered a keynote speech outlining the Government’s support on the issue. Attendees were shown a powerful video containing stories from those who have experienced first-hand abuse while working on the road network.
In 2023, more than 2,300 incidents were officially reported, with many more going unrecorded, and three in ten workers are considering leaving the industry due to poor mental health.
We were joined by other Tier 1 contractors, supply chain partners, National Highways, local authorities, the National Police Chiefs Council and other key highways stakeholders during the discussions.
Vip Gandhi said: “The event galvanised partners from across the sector to take collective and meaningful action against the situation faced by front line workers every day."
