Sir Robert McAlpine Capital Ventures sells £20m PBSA scheme in Egham

SRMCV secured a full planning consent for 107 student studios, common room, gym, cinema, laundry and bike store as well as two commercial units in Egham, Surrey

On behalf of its client Sir Robert McAlpine Capital Ventures (SRMCV), Knight Frank’s Student Property team have successfully sold 40-44a Egham High Street, Surrey.

The fully consented purpose built student accommodation scheme has been purchased by HG Developments. Once complete the scheme is anticipated to have a GDV of £20m.

Since purchasing the 0.64 acres site SRMCV worked to secure a full planning consent for 107 student studios, common room, gym, cinema, laundry and bike store as well as two commercial units to provide activation of the ground floor facades facing the High Street.

Working alongside architect TP Bennett SRMCV used their experience in the sector to ensure the scheme delivered their ethos of making places with both purpose and meaning, both of which are central to the success of communities and businesses as well as the individuals who will live and learn in Egham for generations to come.

David Honeyman, Commercial Director, Sir Robert McAlpine Capital Ventures said: “Recognising the strong demand for student accommodation in the area, SRMCV identified and purchased this brilliant site. The scheme demonstrates our continued success in designing schemes which create value for people, place and project, all of which are central to our business. The team at SRMCV drew on their many years of experience in the PBSA sector to successfully gain consent for this scheme and we greatly look forward to seeing the completed buildings in use.”

Josh Woolley, of Knight Frank’s Student Property team, commented: “We are delighted to have disposed of this site on behalf of Sir Robert McAlpine Capital Ventures. The sale demonstrates the current strength of the PBSA sector and investors’ belief in its long term growth potential.”
