Throughout the week from 20th-24th February, colleagues across the business dressed in bright orange, baked cakes, took part in quizzes and raffles, and even subjected themselves to sponsored leg waxes and sponge throwing, raising more than £3,000.
Maggie's, a charity that provides free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer and their families and friends, is a cause close to the hearts of many of our people.
Throughout the week, colleagues organised various fundraising activities, including a bake sale featuring orange cupcakes and cookies, a quiz on cancer awareness and a raffle with prizes including food hampers and champagne.
But the real excitement came when employees took part in sponsored challenges. Some brave souls volunteered to have their legs waxed, while others paid to throw sponges at their colleagues.
"It was a lot of fun, and all for a good cause," said Katy Barker, PA, Sir Robert McAlpine, who organised the sponge-throwing event at our Kettering plant department. "It's great to see so many people coming together to support Maggie's."
By the end of fundraising campaign, we have raised over £3,000 for Maggie's, an amount that will go towards providing vital support to people with cancer and their loved ones.
This fundraiser is testament to the power of community and the impact that individuals can have when they work together towards a common goal. By going outrageously orange for Maggie's, we have shown that we are willing to go above and beyond to make a difference to the lives of others.
Huge thank you to everyone who has taken part and donated.
