1 Broadgate is the fifth scheme we will deliver for British Land and GIC under the Broadgate Framework.
The highly sustainable scheme is the fifth project to be delivered under the Broadgate Framework for British Land and GIC, and is one of the largest design and build schemes Sir Robert McAlpine has ever delivered in London.
This contract follows the award, back in February 2021, of the demolition and enabling contract at 1 Broadgate, for the 14-storey scheme comprising 500,000 sq ft of offices to upper levels with 46,000 sq ft of retail beneath.
Securing this project is testament to the strong relationship established with British Land and GIC. It reflects the engineering excellence of our team which have already delivered award winning projects such as 100 Liverpool Street and 1 Finsbury Avenue as part of the transformation of Broadgate into a world class, seven day, mixed use destination.

Guests gathered at the lowest point of the structure’s foundations, just over 50m below ground.
2,432 recycled aluminium panels in 19 colours now adorn this 14-storey sustainable landmark, delivering 500,000 sq ft of office and 46,000 sq ft of retail space.
We refurbished a 1980s office building into a vibrant mixed used retail, leisure and flexible co-working space, whilst maintaining its Grade II listed façade.
We are working with British Land and GIC on Broadgate’s evolution into a world-class retail, leisure, and commercial destination, bringing people together to work, shop, drink and dine.
