Nick Podevyn, Innovation and Improvement Manager on our HS2 Align joint venture has been shortlisted for Innovator of the Year. Align is in the process of delivering two of the most complicated assets in HS2, the UK's longest viaduct at 3.4km, and the twin-bored 16.04km twin-bored Chiltern tunnels. Prior to joining Sir Robert McAlpine, Nick served as an officer in the Corps of Royal Engineers, deploying on operations to Afghanistan.
Emma Shakespeare, Senior Design Manager, has been shortlisted for the Champion of Women Award. During the earlier part of her career, Emma was part of the Territorial Army, travelling to Bosnia for six months as part of a UN Peacekeeping deployment alongside the Royal Engineers where she worked as a Media Ops Officer. She is now the Senior Design Manager on Tolworth Hospital which comprises complex demolition and enabling works, extensive landscaping, and the delivery of an 8,000 sq m, five ward Acute Adult and Older Persons Mental Health Care Hospital within the existing Tolworth site.
The Ex-Forces in Business Awards celebrate the second careers of ex-military personnel, recognising the value veterans add to businesses as well as the employers that support the transition of servicemen and women to life on civvy street.
